LETTERS TO THE GOVERNOR

"The death penalty is wrong and has no place in a civilized society," according to PREP's Sister Mary. Sister Mary has been advocating against the death penalty for many years and now her goal is to get all the death sentences in California commuted. Sister Mary said, "at the recent Religious Education Congress (which was held in Anaheim, California)

PREP had postcards available for people to sign and add any comments they wanted, before sending the postcards to Governor Newsom." The postcards sent to Governor Newsom are asking him to grant clemency to all the condemned prisoners in the state of California.

People who are in the position to know are saying Governor Newsom is planning on making a decision, one way or the other, in the near future regarding granting group clemency. It is for this reason the effort to send letters or postcards to the Governor as soon as possible, asking him to grant clemency for the condemned prisoners in California, is so important.

If you, or your family and friends on the outside might be interested in writing to the Governor in Sacramento, all one has to do is write a brief sentence or two telling the Governor you oppose the death penalty and request he grant clemency to all of California's condemned prisoners. Time is of essence so the sooner you, or your people send a letter or postcard in, the better chance it has of making a difference.

Write to:
   Governor Newsom
   1303 10th Street
   Sacramento, CA 95814

Thank you.
